On the night of April 27th, “Turning Point”, the annual spring concert of the International Department was held at the first floor theater of Aspiration Building. Due to the pandemic, only teachers and students could attend this event. However, BNDS warmly provided a live broadcast, inviting parents to enjoy the concert online as well.

For the opening trio, a cellist, pianist, and a flute player performed the song “City of Stars”, which instantly grabbed all the audiences’ attention. Next, the 10th grade chorus One Voice and the Improvisation Band performed “Cutting Edge With Soflege”, “Pop!”,“ Sugar”, and “Song For My Father” respectively. After that, Encore, the signature chorus, sang a very “Pinkish” song ---- “Popular”. Then Ms. Siew and her Guitar III students sang while playing “Dust in the Wind” and “Elchoclo”. Next, “Don’t Forget the Sunscreen” and “Lunch At the Spot” were performed by CNCC band. After the two jazz songs, Ms. Siew went on stage again to conduct the chorus Forte, chanting “Speechless” and “Hakuna Matata”.

As China’s first and only student jazz band in public school, the AP Jazz Band played “Stella By Starlight”, “Mercy Mercy Mercy”, and “Armando’s Rhumba”. After that, the Encore chorus sang “Dance Money” in a acapella style, and performed “Sway&” with the accompaniment of Jazz Band students. Finally, the honorable BNDS Traditional Jazz Big Band entered. This Jazz band composed students and teachers from both National and International Department and also professional Jazz players. They jointly presented three extremely difficult songs “Sax to the Max” , “Tastes Like Chicken”, and “In The Mood”.

Before closing the concert, teachers and students from International Department sent flowers and their best wishes to Mr. Sax. They honored this well-rounded teacher who hosted the concert and thanked his outstanding contributions to the artistic performance of BNDS over the years.
