This Wednesday, November 24th, 2024, the 2nd Annual BNDS Joint National and International Staff Art Exhibition showcased the creative talents of over 30 National and International teachers. With more than 75 pieces of artwork, including paintings, photography, calligraphy, and sculpture, the exhibition also featured ten live performances, making it a dynamic celebration of the arts. The event was held in the Botanical Atrium on the 7th floor of the Aspiration Building.
AP Programme Director Mr. Philip Coverson emphasized the event's significance, stating, “This exhibition brings our National and International staff together in a meaningful way, not just through visual art but also through live performances. It allows our students to see a different side of their teachers, while also fostering greater unity and collaboration within the school. We’ve been amazed by the diversity of works and performances this year, and it’s been a truly inspiring event.”
Among the performances, one highlight was the Director of Integrated Extra-Curricular Activities, Mr. Wu Ruixiang, who captivated the audience with a guitar performance. “Performing in front of my colleagues and students was a unique experience,” Mr. Wu said. “I think it’s a wonderful way to bring everyone together.”
The exhibition was widely praised by parents and staff alike. One parent expressed, “I was truly impressed by the range of artistic talents among the teachers. From the paintings to the music performances, there was so much to enjoy. My children were excited to see their teachers perform—it made the event special.”
In addition to the impressive art and performances, the exhibition helped foster deeper connections among the faculty. Ms. Zhang Junyi, a Teacher of Visual Communication Design and Service Design from the National Programme, shared, “This exhibition was such a great opportunity for all of us to connect on a personal level. It’s more than just showing off our talents; it’s about building stronger bonds across departments. I’ve already made new connections with colleagues I don’t usually interact with, and I’m proud to be part of such a supportive community.”
The event was also a chance for the National and International teachers to collaborate, with many forming new friendships. Mr. Doğu Arslanoğlu, A level art teacher, reflected, “What’s been amazing about this exhibition is how it’s helped break down barriers between departments. The performances, especially, showed how much we can learn from each other, and the connections made here today will last long beyond the exhibition itself.”
Thanks to the hard work and support of Dr. Teng Mingjun; Director of Integrated Extra-Curricular Activities, Mr. Wu Ruixiang; Head of BNDS Arts, Ms. Wang Xiaoxia; and Assistant of the International Department, Ms. Wang Ying, the event was a resounding success.
Mr. Steffen Incze, Head of BNDS International Program Arts, summed up his excitement for the future of such initiatives, saying, “This exhibition is proof of the creative energy that exists within our school. I’m excited to see how this tradition continues to grow, and I look forward to seeing even more collaboration between departments in the years ahead.”
