On Saturday, October 12th, IB students from Music, Film, and Visual Arts visited the 798 Arts and Culture District. This was the first time students from all three IB arts subjects went together. The collaboration reflected the inclusive and interconnected nature of art across various disciplines. 25 students from grades 11 and 12 participated.
Students went to various exhibitions including traditional Japanese anime, works from Wu Guanzhong, an animal exhibition, the graffiti wall, and VIP access to the Platform China gallery.
Students were fortunate enough to encounter one of the artists inside the gallery! It was great for them to hear the artist talk about their work. Furthermore, IB Film Students made a short “Magic Ball” Montage editing together some of the more popular 798 scenes.
At the end of a joyous trip, students were happy, satisfied, and grateful for the opportunity to experience art outside of school and together. Too often, students create in isolation and today they learned that artmaking is truly a social and collaborative practice. One student shared, “Thank you ALL for such a great experience accessible to all ARTS students! I look forward to more collaborations like this”.
IB Arts courses consist of Visual Arts, Music, and Film. This is the first of many events aimed at strengthening the school’s creative community. For more exciting and fun events, please visit the 7th floor of the Aspirations Building. Looking forward to seeing you there!
